To the West
Bridport (less than three miles away) is a centuries-old market town and a fishing port on West Bay, with a long history as the main producer of ropes in the UK - and an excellent reputation for the local food sold at the monthly farmers’ markets and in local shops in the town and at farms. Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall’s The River Cottage was filmed in and around Bridport and Hugh still sells produce at the farmers’ market from time to time.

Visit Bridport Museum to discover more about the Romans and ropemaking and discover what makes Bridport unique. Try on a toga and find out about the Bridport Dagger. Bridport also has a thriving Arts Centre with many exhibitions and a lovely café with secluded courtyard.

Palmer's Brewery, Bridport, has been brewing beer since 1794 and is one of the few thatched breweries in England. It offers tours covering all aspects of the brewing process and beer sampling in the Boardroom most days throughout the summer.
