Arrival and parking
Reception for both the Bed and Breakfast and Self Catering accommodation is at the main door of the Hall situated in a courtyard at the end of the drive. The courtyard is cobbled and uneven and there is one small step (15cm) up to the front door. The door is 125cm wide.
There is parking in the courtyard for Bed and Breakfast guests and for check in. Additional parking is available alongside the drive and outside each self catering cottage.
Luggage can be unloaded from the courtyard for Bed and Breakfast guests and from the parking areas adjacent to the self catering cottages. We are a small establishment with limited staff but if you need special assistance with your luggage please do ask.
Main Building (by prior arrangement only)
Access to the entrance hall is through a door (88 cms wide) which leads into the main hall with two steps down (16cm depth). The entrance hall has a smooth tiled floor. The main hall, lounge and dining room are wooden parquet floors. The lounge has a large Chinese rug covering the main floor area.
Self catering units have their own private laundry facilities.
There are no specialist leisure facilities.
Guests are free to enjoy the 6 acres of gardens, woodland and formal terraces in the grounds. There are a number of paths around the grounds which are undulating and uneven in places. The paths may become muddy in wet weather. The terrace can be accessed either from the cobbled courtyard via a paved, level pathway.
The terrace is paved and has a ramp as well as steps between its two split levels. There are a number of stone and wooden benches to sit on.
There is flight of six steps down to the lawn area but level access is available from the main driveway and through a gateway at the far end of the terrace.
Conference & meeting rooms, banqueting, clubs, entertainment
Conferences, meetings and events are held by special arrangement only in the public rooms described above or, occasionally, in marquee facilities on the lawn. Organisers of such events should inform the Hall of any special arrangements required for those attending.
Any other guests seeking to book at the same time will be notified on any planned events and the impact this may have on their stay.
Mobile phone reception is limited in Burton Bradstock. At Norburton Hall the Vodaphone network has a full signal. For other networks the best place to receive a signal is outside The Anchor Inn, on the corner of Shadrach and the Coast Road.
We subscribe to the highest level of Internet service available here which is then distributed to each cottage through 5 wi-fi access points. The rural location and thick stone walls as well as the capability of each individual device does mean that there may be some areas in the accommodation where the signal is stronger than others and some areas where a signal is not available. Occasionally, there are interruptions to the service due to interference from other wireless devices or engineering works at the exchange. If continual access to the Internet is a necessity for you we would suggest that you obtain a dongle or any other suitable alternative to obtain access to the Internet through your phone provider. You will need to check coverage in this area as at the time of writing, Vodafone is the only provider with coverage here.
